New study contracts

The summer season has been successful for BPT, resulting in 7 new contracts, supporting various customers worldwide with professional and specialized domain services.

“We are pleased with the rock-solid trust in our specialized service portfolio and is a testimonial of the values we create for and together with our partners”, states a PR function in BPT.

In these projects, we apply industry-standard steady state and dynamic simulators, various BPT-SimApps process simulator extensions, BPT best-practice workflows and BPT multi-discipline domain knowledge.

Some of the highlights for the studies are summarized below.

Compressor sealings

Detailed dynamic analysis of the proposed modification of a compressor seal gas system, with the objective of protecting the compressors in accordance with API 692 and other company standards. BPT will validate the design modifications and provide recommendations for improvements, if needed.

Overpressure protection - gas blowby studies

BPT are currently undertaking 3 projects for different customers related to gas blowby, utilizing dynamic simulations and BPT workflows running various gas blowby scenarios to define (according to API 521) realistic relief rates for sizing the safety equipment as well as the associated piping under changing multiphase flow conditions. The gas blowby projects are for offshore installations under development in South Americas, North Sea, and North Americas (platform and FPSOs).

Overpressure protection - inadvertent valve opening and choke failure studies

Dynamic simulations of various failure scenarios to validate whether the process facility inlet arrangement with increased production choke sizes has sufficient over pressure protection capacity according to API 521 incident cases inadvertent valve opening and choke failure.

Pipe support loads

Detailed analysis of tie-in of subsea production system to topside processing facility, with special focus on the pipe support loads at FPSO tie-in arrangement during transient scenarios with fast multiphase dynamics.

Operational conditions

BPT assists an operator of a field center at NCS to determine the most suitable operational points for the processing facility for selected operational scenarios.
