Reduce model development time by 60%
Introduction:
When evaluating PSV capacity, one has to take into account changes in the process conditions. Changes in backpressure and changes in fluid going into the PSV greatly effects the capacity.
Traditionally engineers need to save cases at peak conditions and use those data to tune a PSV to achieve conservatism. BPT-PSX eliminates this time-consuming task and provides more precise results faster
Correct relief valve capacity is vital to ensure equipment overpressure protection and avoiding excess flare loads. It is extremely useful for tie-in projects.
What is BPT-PSX?
BPT-PSX is a relief valve rating model for use within steady state and dynamic simulation models. Includes capacity calculations for all types of relief valves defined in API 520 9th ed.
BPT-PSX provides engineers with an accurate representation of relief valve capacity inside the overall simulator system.
BPT-PSX provides improved safety study results by increasing relief valve modelling accuracy.
BPT-PSX has added functionality compared to the default relief valve models because:
- BPT-PSX uses the HEM method for base flow calculation
- BPT-PSX defaults to API 520 for all correction coefficients
- BPT-PSX eliminates the need to estimate de-rating coefficients as they are continuously updated in a dynamic simulation
This software comes as an extension for UniSim Design, Petro-SIM and HYSYS.
High integrity safety assessment
No risk of overestimating the relief system capacity under all conditions. No underestimation of capacity due to conservative assumptions.
Default API derating
No input beyond the basic definition of a relief valve is required to model a PSV with the default derating factors. Easy to use for users not intimately familiar with relief valve design.
Detailed definition can be added
All details of the PSV and the derating coefficients are highly customizable. Vendor information can be used to match vendor performance data and operating curves.
