When evaluating PSV capacity, one have to take into account changes in the process conditions. Changes in backpressure and changes in fluid going into the PSV greatly effects the capacity.
Traditionally engineers need to save cases at peak conditions and use those data to tune a PSV to achieve conservatism. BPT-PSX eliminates this time-consuming task and provides more precise results faster
Correct relief valve capacity is vital to ensure equipment overpressure protection and avoiding excess flare loads. It is extremely useful for tie-in projects.
What is ROX?
ROX™ is a process simulator unit operation for orifice and venturi flow meters and restriction orifice modelling. ROX can be used in both steady state and dynamic simulations.
Since orifice and venturi flow meters are not commonly available as standard unit operations in process simulators, if a model or either unit is required, the user currently has to estimate or approximate the operation of this equipment.
This software comes as an extension for Petro-SIM from KBC Advanced Technologies and Aspen HYSYS from AspenTech.
No user estimate calculations needed
BPT ROX uses the Homogenous Equilibrium Method (HEM) as the general flow calculation method for restriction orifices and uses ISO5167 as the basis for calculation of orifice flow meters and venturi flow meters.
ROX is not intended to be an orifice plate design tool, but if the user wishes to do a design, he or she can quickly adjust the main dimensions to find an orifice/throat size that fits the needs of the process.
