BPT Front-End-Loading Services for the Krafla Field Development

Equinor Energy has awarded Billington Process Technology (BPT) a process verification and flare analysis study contract for Krafla field development for the concept development phase. The services will be carried out in close cooperation with study contractor Aibel and Equinor project team.

"We are delighted to be recognized for our experience in front-end-loading field development, supported by efficient digital tools and experienced specialists" states an official spokesman of Billington Process Technology, adding "Krafla will be the first unmanned field development at NCS, where BPTs capabilities are perfectly fitted for the new challenges and requirements".

A multi-discipline senior team from BPT will apply a structured front-end-loading approach to mitigate risks and enhance unmanned and remote system design at an early stage of the field development.

A key driver throughout the work will be to improve quality of process and system design for the Krafla field according to unmanned design principles assisted by digital tools and advanced simulation models. Both steady state and dynamic simulations will be used as well as a full field simulator including multiphase production wells and pipelines, utilizing BPT developed software to ensure consistency from well to market and high-quality simulations for early phase studies.
